Cooperation "Network for Children"
-
A serious illness, the loss of the family home, a dramatic family crisis,
or also physical violence or sexual abuse are the key experience in the
life of the children and youths who are cared for in the Tabaluga facilities.
In particular, child abuse has become a pervasive problem in today’s
society. Once the initial outcry of indignation has passed over, the
victims are often just forgotten – the children are left alone with their
silent trauma if they don’t get the all-round help they require. In order to offer the children and youths a reliable contact and ensure
that the Tabaluga Children’s Projects can be ensured on a long-term
basis the Auerbach Foundation concluded a cooperation agreement
with the Tabaluga Children’s Foundation. The cooperation “Network for
Children“ was created to extend and ensure the Tabaluga Children’s
Projects can continue to provide children, youths and their families with
the help they need. -
In the Tabaluga Children’s Projects every year some 800 traumatised and seriously ill children and youths can be individually treated either in hospital or as out-patients. Over the many years of its existence the organisation has continued to grow.
The Tabaluga Children’s Foundation was founded in 2001 by Dr. Jürgen Haerlin. The Foundation helps to finance the work in these projects. Peter Maffay gave the organisation its name “Tabaluga“ and he is also the patron of the Foundation.
Together the Tabaluga Children’s Foundation and the Auerbach Foundation see their mission in finding a way to make life worth living again for traumatised children. The Foundations pool their resources, concentrating on the long-term welfare, protection and development of the young people affected.
