| “Dr. Murx”, “Dr. Quietschvergnügt” (in English we might call them Dr. Baloney and Dr. Happy-Happy) and their colleagues visit sick children and give them a “hint of that magic lust for life”. The Clinic Clowns, two-by-two, go from ward to ward and bed to bed giving their little patients – who are far from their familiar surroundings – some personal and individual attention. When the Clinic Clowns conjure up laughter on these little faces this not only improves their state of health in many ways but also accelerates the healing process. They help the children forget their pain, their fear and their homesickness and gain a new lease of life. Laughter activates a whole new energy in the young patients and it is also a refreshing relief for the parents and the medical staff. |

The professional clowns from the association ‘KlinikClowns Bayern e.V.’ have been active in children’s hospitals since 1998 and are in the meantime an institution close to the heart of everyone in the daily hospital routine. In the children’s wards of the Augsburg Central Clinic and the Josefinum Children’s Hospital the patients look forward to the clowns’ weekly visit. However, these wards are so large that only a few children can benefit from their visit. Thanks to the generous support of the Auerbach Foundation ‘KlinikClowns Bayern e.V.’ has been able to expand their team and now even more children can enjoy the fun and excitement with the clowns.
