| The Dehme primary school is a one- to two-stream non-denominational school in Bad Oeynhausen situated on the southern slope of the Wiehen mountains. However, this “idyll” is a bit clouded by its location, directly on the very busy highway B61 with more than 20,000 cars and trucks racing by every day. That’s why it’s all the more important to start the day with a healthy well-balanced breakfast. A nourishing breakfast is very important for children when they have to learn. Since always fewer children come to school with a nourishing sandwich and fruit or vegetables the Dehme primary school has started up the project “A Healthy Breakfast”. Often the children don’t have any decent to eat with them – plus the fact they don’t know what a proper family breakfast at home is. |

Many of the schoolchildren have no idea about fruit and vegetables and so the school conference decided to introduce “A Healthy Breakfast”. This project is carried by the principal, the teachers and parents. In cooperation with Ifas, long-term unemployed persons are also re-integrated into working life and receive further education in the school project. They are responsible for buying the fruit and vegetables and settle up with the school secretary and then prepare the fruit and vegetable platters for each class in the school kitchen. With this project the Auerbach Foundation is supporting two social projects in this region. |
