| Primary schoolchildren are supervised in mixed age groups by the Förderverein Schülerbetreuung Pestalozzischule e.V. [Friends of the Pestalozzi School] after lessons and until 4 p.m. This includes a warm lunch, help with homework and lots of possibilities to play and keep themselves occupied. The after-school care picks up where the morning lessons left off. To improve social behaviour, emphasis is placed on the school components “Violence Prevention” and “Social Competence”. This is done with the help of non-violent communication – what we call “giraffe language”. It is also important that the children consider themselves as part of a group. |

This offer is thankfully and readily accepted by working parents. This way, they can be sure that their children are competently looked after, while they go about their business. 25 children already have a place in this after-school care project. However, the need for such care facilities has greatly increased in the last few years. The aim of the Pestalozzi Friends is therefore to increase the number of places available step by step. Thanks to the Auerbach Foundation’s help a second group with 10 children has since been set up. In the next few years the objective is to form two groups, each with 20 children. |
