Clinic Clowns – Laughter as a gift.
 |
“Dr. Murx”, “Dr. Quietschvergnügt” (in English we might call them Dr. Baloney and Dr. Happy-Happy) and their colleagues visit sick children and give them a “hint of that magic lust for life”. The Clinic Clowns, two-by-two, go from ward to ward and bed to bed giving their little patients – who are far from their familiar surroundings – some personal and individual attention. When the Clinic Clowns conjure up laughter on these little faces this not only improves their state of health in many ways but also accelerates the healing process. They help the children forget their pain, their fear and their homesickness and gain a new lease of life. Laughter activates a whole new energy in the young patients and it is also a refreshing relief for the parents and the medical staff. The professional clowns from the association ‘KlinikClowns Bayern e.V.’ have been active in children’s hospitals since 1998 and are in the meantime an institution close to the heart of everyone in the daily hospital routine. In the children’s wards of the Augsburg Central Clinic and the Josefinum Children’s Hospital the patients look forward to the clowns’ weekly visit. However, these wards are so large that only a few children can benefit from their visit. Thanks to the generous support of the Auerbach Foundation ‘KlinikClowns Bayern e.V.’ has been able to expand their team and now even more children can enjoy the fun and excitement with the clowns.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
