A place to get together – a place full of ideas.

Since the youth centres have been closed down in Nuremberg’s inner city, young people have hardly had any possibility of getting together,. However, this gap is being closed by the YMCA “Treppenhaus-Lounge” (Christlicher Verein Junger Menschen Nürnberg e.V). This meeting place automatically gets the kids in touch with other facilities offered by the YMCAi. There are widely diversified programmes aimed at children, teenagers, young adults, families and senior citizens.
The recreation room is ideal for forging contacts between people of all age groups and nationalities. For instance the residents of the multi-generation house and the students of the YMCA language school “Elvida“” get together here. This is an important place for social interaction, a place that is filled with life by the Auerbach Foundation – thanks to their sponsoring of tuition personnel. This encourages a lively communication between people of different generations and different nationalities.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
