In the beginning was the word...
and then the good deed.

School in Löhne - In the beginning was the word...
<br />and then the good deed.

It is very difficult for children and youths who have little exposure to the German language at home to find access to German culture. A special programme at the Bertolt Brecht Comprehensive school in Löhne supports and helps these children to get accustomed to the German culture. The objective here is to give them confidence in using the German language and thus improving the chances of finishing school with a good qualification. With this as a starting block, integration into the labour market is so much easier.

This positive effect on the lives of the children can be achieved by the Bertolt Brecht Comprehensive school thanks to long-term mentoring of the young people by social education workers. Exposure to and the use of the German language is trained on a regular basis over two years. This includes planning, writing and performing their own plays and films and composing their own texts. In providing a financial backup for the project, the Auerbach Foundation supports this good deed with a view to “the word”.

About the Auerbach Foundation

The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.

To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.

With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.

In concrete terms this means:
  • Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
  • Funding education and socialisation
  • Funding science and research
  • Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.

Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.

In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
