Children’s hospice: a haven for life.

Stiftung Kinderhospiz Mitteldeutschland Nordhausen e. V. - Children’s hospice: a haven for life.

More than 22,000 children and youths in Germany suffer from a fatal disease. With such a diagnosis the whole world falls apart for the children, the parents, brothers and sisters and other loved ones. Despair, helplessness, grief and anger, a turmoil of feelings that make it impossible to lead a normal life. Day for day the families face enormously difficult challenges. The 24-hour care of a seriously ill child is permanent psychological and physical stress. The association Friends of the Children’s Hospice Tambach-Dietharz - Förderverein des Kinderhospizes Mitteldeutschland in Tambach-Dietharz – has taken on the task of helping these people.

The “Haven for Life” is there to provide “more scope for humanity”. Here the entire family can find relief and peace and quiet to regain their strength. The time that remains for the families together should be fulfilling, therefore a feeling of security, companionship and a love of life is at the heart of this centre. The atmosphere in the hospice, the personnel and the devotion of all those involved help to form heartfelt friendships and relations to these families. The Auerbach Foundation supports the “Haven for Life” to ensure these requirements can be fulfilled on a professional and high-quality level.

About the Auerbach Foundation

The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.

To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.

With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.

In concrete terms this means:
  • Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
  • Funding education and socialisation
  • Funding science and research
  • Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.

Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.

In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
