"Starthilfe“ – a helping hand for starting school.
 |
The Caritas project “Starthilfe” helps make the transition from kindergarten to primary school easier for children and parents from disadvantaged backgrounds. With this, Caritas wants to clearly improve the educational opportunities for the children of the regions Heilbronn-Hohenlohe, Ludwigsburg-Waiblingen-Enz, Ost-Württemberg and Schwarzwald-Gäu. For two years mentors help the children with reading and in general educational aspects. At the same time parenting skills are also advanced in courses offered or in individual counselling. Full-time social education workers cooperate with the pre-school and primary school teachers in optimising the transition from kindergarten to school. From this project the Caritas of the Diocese Rottenburg-Stuttgart can gain a profound knowledge base to help in their efforts for equal educational opportunities for children from disadvantaged families. The findings and experience made here can also be applied in other geographic and thematic areas of the work of Caritas. With a networking of other “support points”, such as in religious communities, the help can be integrative and cross-community from the word go. The Auerbach Foundation’s help makes it possible to provide the personnel required.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
