Removing barriers and improving everyday living conditions.
 |
Caritas in Eisenhüttenstadt is planning setting up a care and service centre for senior citizens. This facility is geared towards helping elderly and, in particular, dementia patients, who for some reason or another have fallen through the cracks in the standard care service system. When it comes to care and provision in old age, these people often find it difficult to accept help. The reasons here are often negative experience when dealing with authorities or insufficient information on the range of care programmes available for the elderly. A new aid programme is to be set up to avoid anyone being at risk of a lack of care or even neglect. There are two objectives to improve the circumstances of immigrants and their families who are in need of care or help. On the one hand, help is given to the various institutions of the care systems, when it comes to language problems and special needs due to cultural differences. On the other hand, the people with migrant backgrounds can contact the care service centre when they are confronted with the problems of care, old age, disabilities or dementia. With the help of the Auerbach Foundation the new care and service centre informs on the various aid systems, provides useful contacts or active support.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
