FaKT – Supporting families with facts and skills.
 |
The Caritas Family Centre is in the Leipzig neighbourhood Grünau, a social boiling point with a special need for development. Compared to the Leipzig average, there are a great deal of single-parents and households with more than three children here. The families who live here have difficult and stressful living conditions characterised mostly by a major lack of financial resources. The high rate of unemployment – in particular long-term unemployment – means that the outlook for things improving is pretty low. The aim of the various help projects is to provide families and children with better prospects. These include offering educational opportunities as a long-term stabilisation effect and encouraging and supporting skills and talents. FaKT – which stands in German for “Family Competence Training” – is a learning opportunity and is directed at families, single parents and young adults. In one course young couples are prepared for parenthood. In another individual skills are developed and advanced in a team with social educators. This course should make general household organisation and family-related decisions much easier. The complex problem backgrounds often mean that additional partner and individual case work emerges from the contact to the family members. Thanks to the Auerbach Foundation this personal counselling and support can be provided after the courses.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
