More warmth and affection for care patients.

Caritasverband Leipzig e.V. - More warmth and affection for care patients.

In caring for needy older people affection and human warmth is something that is often missing. Care services tend just to cover the physical basic needs such as “fed and cleaned”. However, the people in need of care not only suffer from their ailments, almost as much they suffer from their isolation and loneliness. Increasing old-age poverty means that most patients cannot afford help for their emotional pains. The carers do try to cover this need but, due to economic constraints and overwork, they cannot fulfil this desire and do what would be necessary. Here relief can be provided by additional care staff – the “Care and Affection Nurses”.

In cooperation with Wogetra (Wohngenossenschaft Transport e.G.) the Caritasverband Leipzig e.V. offers assisted residential facilities for people in need. Here particularly needy persons and dementia patients can find a new home. The living units are designed so that it is still possible to have the privacy of one’s own four walls, but that within an atmosphere of community and security. Spouses can of course also live here but with the “round-the-clock” care services they are also able to find a little relief. With the Auerbach Foundation’s sponsorship and thanks to more care and affection that can be provided, the needy and lonely patients have the possibility of experiencing more human warmth.

About the Auerbach Foundation

The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.

To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.

With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.

In concrete terms this means:
  • Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
  • Funding education and socialisation
  • Funding science and research
  • Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.

Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.

In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
