Stairway Lounge – A place to get together and exchange ideas.
 |
The Stairway Lounge is a meeting place for young people in Nuremberg’s city centre. The active involvement in the lounge gets the kids in touch with other facilities offered by the YMCA, for instance advisory services and support. It’s situated in the entrance area of the YMCA where lots of recreational and educational activities are on offer for all age groups. The Stairway Lounge is an interface between the streets and the activities that go on in the YMCA. The Stairway Lounge offers young people the opportunity of discovering and extending their own talents, for instance by being actively involved in creating the cultural programme. The recreation room is ideal for forging contacts between people of all age groups and nationalities. For instance the residents of the multi-generation house and the students of the YMCA language school “Elvida” for people with a migrant background get together here. Starting up a diversified cultural programme for young people by young people is part of this, as are courses for the employees, for instance, in dealing with alcohol problems. Various advisory and help projects are offered thanks to the sponsorship of the Auerbach Foundation and a lively communication between people of different generations and different nationalities encouraged.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
