The Christliche Verein Junger Menschen Nürnberg e.V. (YMCA), in cooperation with the CJD, Germany's nationwide organisation for youth, education and social work, offers a key qualification training for adolescents and young people with a migration background. This training furnishes the participants with skills to help them to become more easily integrated in our society. This way their own drive and initiative is raised, as is their willingness to learn, logical thinking, environmental awareness and tolerance towards other cultures. To ensure there is a constant development the young people get together once a week.
Through the contact with the counsellors from the YMCA and CJD the young people are encouraged to accept responsibility for their own lives. They can become part of a larger community by actively contributing to the two associations. This gives the youngsters the opportunity of breaking out of their disadvantaged situation and discouraging structures and striking a new path. The project prepares the participants for taking an active part in working life and the social responsibilities and pleasures that go with it. The Auerbach Foundation supports this project by ensuring the personnel required is available.
