Helping people who help others.
 |
It is so good that there are people who help others. But, who helps the helpers? How do they manage to stay fit and motivated in their stressful day-to-day life? How do they recharge their batteries – personally and professionally? People who work in social and caring professions often put their own further development and recharging their batteries on hold, in favour of the needy and their colleagues. They know only too well about the social cutbacks, the lack of support from political authorities and the daily struggle for survival among the social facilities and services. Since 2009 the Caritasverband der Diözese Rottenburg-Stuttgart and their associated organisations have been supporting their employees with a supplementary study programme. This programme is available to a total of 28,000 employees in social services and 1,600 care facilities for the disabled or elderly, as well as for child and youth welfare services. This way their services are appreciated and valued and they receive support in their personal development. At the same time, this additional strength and energy plays a role in the sustainability of social services. The carers can apply for a grant for further education courses. The amount of the stipend comprises, at a maximum, half of the tuition fees. Another plus point is a cross-organisation network among the colleagues for mutual support. So that the people who want to help can continue to do so, the Auerbach Foundation helps as well by sponsoring this project.
About the Auerbach Foundation
The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.
To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.
With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.
In concrete terms this means:
- Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
- Funding education and socialisation
- Funding science and research
- Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.
Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.
In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
