Professional help for families in times of crisis.

Caritas Familienhilfe - Professional help for families in times of crisis.

The family is the oldest social unit and the last social safety net. It gives people a feeling of security and recuperation and can stave off much distress, if the family is intact. When this safety net becomes fragile people are often left to their own resources. Unexpected events such as the loss of work, illness, the death of a family member or the painful separation can throw people off course and can shatter entire families. In such cases professional help and caring supervision are called for. The helpers from Familienhilfe Caritas offer both, and cater to the various individual needs.

If the main caring person - parent or guardian – is no longer able to care, a trained family helper cares for the children and ensures that a stable domestic environment can be maintained. She makes sure that the usual day-to-day family routine is kept up as far as possible. Her work focuses on the needs, wishes and resources of the family.  The support includes practical help in looking after the children, housekeeping and dealing with authorities etc. But simply listening and consoling is also part of the job. The  Auerbach Foundation supports Caritas in their work so that families are not left alone in times of crisis.

About the Auerbach Foundation

The aim of the Auerbach Foundation is to provide help and support for people on a lasting basis.

To be able to grasp a situation we first have to understand it. And with this understanding we can, within the scope of our project funding, provide an impetus, and that is the first step in helping people to help themselves.

With its charitable and social donations the Auerbach Foundation minimises financial, spiritual, mental and physical hardship. It also seeks to create avenues for art, culture and science and, in doing so, to safeguard values, such as security and creativity.

In concrete terms this means:
  • Funding people:
youth aid, aid for the old, aid for the disabled, development aid
  • Funding education and socialisation
  • Funding science and research
  • Funding art and culture
The Auerbach Foundation was founded in 2005 by the Avira GmbH partner, Tjark Auerbach and finances its projects from donations.

Anyone buying the software Avira AntiVir Premium or Avira Premium Security Suite in the Avira online shop, makes a contribution of five euros per product to the Foundation projects.

In 2008 a total of approximately € 800,000 will go to benefit social and cultural projects.
